Naturalization is one of the more predictable immigration paths, which is exactly why the costs should not surprise anyone.
The N-400 filing fee is $760 on paper, or $710 if you file online. Biometrics are now included, so there is no separate fingerprint charge. If your household income is at or below 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, there is a reduced fee of $380 for paper filings, and in my experience it is claimed far less often than it should be.
My preparation fee for the N-400 is $750. Attorneys handling straightforward naturalization commonly charge between $750 and $2,500, and considerably more when there are complications.
Two costs people forget. Certified translations of any Spanish-language document you submit, because USCIS accepts evidence in English only, and record requests if you need your own immigration file first.
